Dubai

Do you know Dubai ? Dubai is the most populous city in the United Arab Emirates. However, being from Dubai, I decided to make you discover this amazing country.

Go to the Burj Khalifa and then walk around the Dubai Mall.

The highest tower in the world is majestic and the visit at its top. The visit has a cost (40€) but it’s really to do! The idea is to take a combined ticket to visit the aquarium of Dubai Mall which costs 50€! And then, once again, the Aquarium is just WOW. Never seen so many species of fish and marine animals in the same space, with a crazy decoration and many « tunnels » to feel good and well. Afterwards, we continue the visit in this huge shopping mall, Dubai Mall, which also hosts an ice rink, nearly 200 restaurants, a huge food court and more than 1000 shops as well as an impressive fountain inside. And speaking of fountains, from 6.30pm you can watch the show outside the mall, facing the Burj, with a 3-minute show every half hour. Magic!

Visit Old Dubai.

There are a lot of buildings in Dubai BUT there is also the Old Dubai district, more authentic, less modern and which really reminds us that we are in the Middle East. But when I say « old » don’t get excited: nothing is old here and the neighborhood dates back about fifty years max. The buildings are lower, the streets are busier, the sidewalks are livelier, and the spaces are smaller. Not to mention the souks, such as the spice or gold souks as well as more traditional spots. Also unmissable, a tour of Arba, a traditional boat that takes you from one bank to the other for 1AED. We continue the visit with a stop at the Dubai Museum which will tell you all the history of the city in a playful way.

Doing water sports in Jumeirah

The beaches are magnificent in Dubai, very clean, white sand, turquoise water, few waves and quality infrastructure with great rides. And what could be more bling-blings than water sports, which are highly practiced all over the edge of Dubai! The experience is magical! We have tested fly-board and jet ski Dubai on Jumeirah. It was going to be a crazy morning! The FlyBoard Dubai is a truly exceptional experience, I loved it! Still count about 140€ for the combo of the two activities (30min each but you’ll each spend your turn on the fly board which promises to have a lot of fun all morning and to enjoy!) but it’s well worth it! Still count about 140€ for the combo of the two activities (30min each but you’ll each spend your turn on the fly board which promises to have a lot of fun all morning and to enjoy!) but it’s well worth it!

Going for a ride in the desert

The desert jaunt is pretty much mandatory when you land in Dubai. Usually, you leave Dubai in the afternoon with your guide who picks you up in his big 4×4 and you arrive an hour later in the desert. Afterwards, you’re usually offered a traditional dinner. We went to see one of the King’s camel farms, a camel ride was also offered and included in the price, then the dinner show is served in a Disney-style place where you feel like you’re at Aladdin’s. The whole thing is enlivened by several shows, from belly dancing to fire-eating. So yes, it’s touristic but for the moment, the quality/price ratio is very interesting for here: the whole thing will cost you around 50€!
